Officials gave information

Giving information on the matter, the officials of the security forces said that the attackers hiding in the forest fired at the security forces at around six in the morning. However, no information about any injury or casualty has been revealed in this incident. The security forces are keeping a close watch on the matter. Additional security forces are also being sent to Pallel area to handle the entire incident.

After a week of calm, violence broke out in the state of Manipur last week as well. On 29 August and 31 August, clashes between tribal Kuki and prominent Meitei people left at least eight people dead and over two dozen injured, including three India Reserve Battalion personnel. A complete curfew has been imposed in the area following a call by women from Meitei groups to march to remove the security barricades in Phougakchao Ikhai village. A group called COCOMI has demanded the removal of the Assam Rifles from Manipur, saying the force discriminates. Meitei women’s groups have held several protests against the force. Heavy deployment of security forces including Rapid Action Force, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police personnel was made to bring peace in the area.
