Mahua Moitra Expulsion: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has been expelled from the post of MP for taking money for asking questions in Parliament. In view of these developments, the House Committee of Parliament has ordered Mahua to vacate the official bungalow in Delhi allotted to her by the government. In this regard, the Housing Committee has written a letter to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Also, the committee said that the MP should be ordered to vacate the bungalow within 30 days.

Mahua Moitra reached Supreme Court

At the same time, Mahua approached the Supreme Court against his expulsion. He challenged his expulsion from the Lok Sabha in the Supreme Court. A petition was filed on Monday. Mahua Moitra’s parliamentary membership was canceled on Friday on the recommendation of the Ethics Committee in the Cash for Question case. It was alleged that Mahua Moitra had taken money and asked questions in Parliament, after which a Code of Conduct Committee was formed and a long investigation was conducted. The Ethics Committee submitted a report on this matter in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

In that report, the Ethics Committee had recommended to the Lok Sabha Speaker to expel Mahua Moitra from the House. After the presentation of the report, there was a discussion in the Lok Sabha for about an hour and a proposal to expel Mahua Moitra from Parliament was moved and it was accepted by voice vote.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that this House accepts the conclusion of the committee that the behavior of MP Mahua Moitra is unethical and unbecoming of an MP. Moitra, who reached Parliament for the first time from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency, was expelled from Parliament on Friday saying that it was not right for her to continue as an MP.

What did Mahua Moitra say

49-year-old Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra compared the action to hanging by a kangaroo court. He also alleged that a parliamentary panel was being weaponized by the government to force the opposition to bow down. Mahua Moitra also said that this fight will continue. The BJP government is trying to suppress the voice of the opposition.
