The final match of Vidhan Sabha level Kamal Cup Kabaddi competition organized by Friends Club Kurud in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh was played at Swami Vivekanand Indoor Stadium between the teams of Mandraud and Saurabandha. To witness the match, Angoori Bhabhi actress Shilpa Shinde of TV serial ‘Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain’ enjoyed the final match along with patron of the event and former cabinet minister Ajay Chandrakar. Around 1,600 players from 162 teams participated and displayed their sporting skills in this kabaddi competition based on international matches. On seeing Ms. Shinde, an atmosphere of happiness was visible among the people present there as well as among the players. Overwhelmed by the welcome of Kurud residents, Shilpa greeted her fans. Also won the hearts of people by speaking his famous dialogue “Haye Daiya Sahi Pakde”. Throughout the match in the stadium, there were voices of support for the players playing the final match with Shilpa Shinde’s voice.
Best Catcher Gyanchand and Best Raider Gajendra Patel
The final match was played between the teams of Mandraud and Saurabandha late in the evening on Tuesday. Mandraud’s team dominated in this from the beginning. They had no answer to the aggressive game of one-to-one raider and catcher. It continued to score points after the first couple of minutes and took a 15-8 lead at the end of the first half. In the second half, the spectators who arrived from the area were just waiting for the last minute. Mandraud’s best catcher Gyanchand Sonkar and best raider Gajendra Patel maintained their dominance by registering maximum points in their account in the first half itself. Along with this, his team registered a 26-10 lead in the last second and captured the title of the competition, Kamal Cup and prize money of 51 thousand.
Saurabandha stood second and Maurikhurd stood third.
Chudamani Netam, the best raider of the Sourabandha team scored 85 points and fellow players also performed better and won the second prize of Rs 25,000 and the Kamal Cup. Earlier, Maurikhurd and Charra fought for the third and fourth place after winning the semi-final match. In this, Maurikhurd won the match 25-14 and finished third, giving Pintu the best player award. The third prize of Rs 10,000 and Kamal Cup was given to the team of Maurikhurd. Actress Shilpa Shinde and MLA Ajay Chandrakar distributed prizes to all the winners. The members of the Friends Club had a special contribution in the completion of this night-long 8-day competition.
