The Bombay High Court has got a new Chief Justice in the form of Ramesh Devkinandan Dhanuka for three days. Whose tenure is only for three days. Today he has been sworn in at the Raj Bhavan. The Center had stamped it on Friday. Let us inform that since the promotion of former Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta on December 11, 2022, the post of Chief Justice was lying vacant in the Bombay High Court. This will be the shortest tenure as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Court, as Justice RD Dhanuka will retire on May 30, so Ramesh Devkinandan Dhanuka’s tenure will be just three days.
The names of Justice Dhanuka and Justice Gangapurwala were announced by the Supreme Court Collegium as the heads of the High Courts, with the Center giving Dhanuka’s nod. According to information received from the Raj Bhavan (State Building), the ceremony began with the National Anthem, in which the Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Council, the Guardian Minister of Mumbai, Judges of the Bombay High Court, Director General of Police Department was present. On the recommendation of Chief Justice of India Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and KM Joseph, the Central Government has appointed RD Dhanuka as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
Who is Justice Ramesh Devkinandan Dhanuka
Ramesh Devkinandan Dhanuka was born in 1961 in Mumbai. His schooling was completed in Mumbai only. He later obtained his graduation degree in law from Bombay University. After studying law, Dhanuka continued to practice in the chamber of his father Justice DR Dhanuka in the High Court. He was on the Senior Advocate Panel of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for many years. He was appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court on 23 January 2012.
