Hearing in SC on the disqualification petition of MLAs filed on behalf of Uddhav and Pawar.

Shiv Sena And NCP Disqualification Plea: The petition filed by Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) and Sharad Pawar faction of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was heard in the Supreme Court on Friday, in which Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal are on behalf of the petitioner. During the hearing, the Supreme Court strongly reprimanded Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar and said that he should take a decision on the disqualification of MLAs before the next elections. Regarding the disqualification of Shiv Sena-UBT and the petition of Sharad Pawar faction of NCP, the CJI also said that there is a need to advise the Speaker that he cannot reject the orders of the Supreme Court.

SC directed to take immediate decision on the matter

Let us tell you that the Supreme Court heard the petitions of Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction and NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction. In which a demand has been made to direct the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker to take an early decision on the disqualification proceedings against some MLAs. The Supreme Court told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that someone has to advise the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly that he cannot reject the court order.

The Supreme Court said the schedule consideration should not delay the hearing indefinitely. The speaker should take the matter seriously. No action has been taken in this matter since June. They should not show off anything. Rather a hearing should be held.

SC gave time till 17 October

The Supreme Court said that if it does not get a proper timetable set by the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker by October 17, it will issue a mandatory order setting a deadline, as its order is not being followed. The court believes that the Speaker should take a decision on the disqualification of MLAs at least before the next elections.

Deliberate delay in the case: Sharad Pawar

NCP chief Sharad Pawar said the NCP and Shiv Sena (UBT) have approached the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker to take a decision regarding the disqualification of some MLAs in a time-bound manner. SC can direct the Speaker to take the decision in a time bound manner. We fear that delay tactics are being adopted in the matter.
