Cricket News: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s retirement comment on Virat Kohli has been attacked by Sourav Ganguly. He has called Shoaib’s statement unnecessary by supporting Virat Kohli. Please tell that Virat Kohli has completed 15 years in international cricket on Friday i.e. 18th August. It is believed that the World Cup to be held in India this year could be Virat Kohli’s last World Cup. Many believe that apart from ODIs, Virat’s future in T20 is also uncertain as Virat and Rohit have been sidelined from the Indian team in this format ever since the defeat in T20 World Cup 2022. Both the senior batsmen have not played a single T20 match for Team India since then. Please tell that at present, Virat Kohli has the record of scoring the most runs in T20 International cricket.
Shoaib Akhtar’s statement on Kohli
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, during an exclusive interview in Pak media, while commenting on Virat Kohli, said that Kohli may retire from both ODIs and T20Is to prolong his career in the longest format. Along with this, Shoaib Akhtar said that I don’t think he should play more 50-over matches after this World Cup. Akhtar said Kohli has the potential to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries. He should focus on test cricket from world cup 2023 onwards and break this record.
Sourav Ganguly’s befitting reply to Akhtar
Responding to Shoaib Akhtar’s above statement on Virat Kohli, former Indian captain Saurabh Ganguly said that there is no logic in Akhtar’s assessment. Whatever format Virat Kohli wants to play, he should play because he is doing well at the moment.
