G-20 Summit: The G20 summit is going to be held in the national capital Delhi in September, due to which three days public holiday can be declared in the capital. During this, there is confusion among the traders on the closure of the markets. For this reason more than 100 market associations have approached the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI). After this, CTI has appealed to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar for help.

CTI has written a letter to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar on behalf of the traders of Delhi and said that the markets of Delhi should not be kept closed due to the G20 conference. Visits of guests from abroad should be organized in the historic markets of the capital, so that local businessmen can benefit from it. The CTI has said that September 8, 9 and 10 may be declared a public holiday during the G20 summit. Many types of questions are arising in the minds of traders of Delhi that which markets will be closed and which markets will remain open.

Nearly 100 market associations contacted CTI

Chamber of Trade and Industry Chairman Brijesh Goyal said during the conversation that according to media reports, schools, colleges, offices, markets and roads will remain closed during the G20 conference. There is confusion among the traders as to whether the markets of Delhi will remain closed. It is said that around 100 market associations of Delhi have approached the CTI regarding this issue. Earlier it was being said that only Lutyens’ Delhi and surrounding markets would be closed. Now many discussions are going on regarding the markets of Old Delhi as well.

Foreign guests came to visit the markets of Delhi: Brijesh Goyal

CTI chief Brijesh Goyal said that Janmashtami festival is on 6th and 7th September. If there will be a holiday from 8 to 10 September, people are planning to go out. Appealing to Foreign Minister Jaishankar, CTI said, “The markets of Delhi should not be closed. Local businessmen want foreign guests to visit the markets of Delhi. Enjoy the famous cuisine of Old Delhi. Buy clothes and famous items here. We invite foreign guests coming to the G20 to visit the markets of Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Connaught Place, Khan Market, Sarojini Nagar and Lajpat Nagar.
