Emiliano Martínez: FIFA World Cup 2022 winner and Argentina’s star goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is on a tour of India these days. After reaching Kolkata, Martinez tasted delicious Bengali dishes. Football lovers thronged outside the airport to catch a glimpse of Martinez. State Fire Minister Sujit Bose and top officials of the country’s famous football club Mohun Bagan were present at the airport to welcome Martinez.

After Martínez reached Kolkata, he tasted the delicious food of Kolkata. Martinez enjoyed a Bengali thali for lunch, which included aloo posto (potatoes with poppy seeds), chital fish, hilsa fish paturi and lobster. Casserole, meat tarts, rasgulla and sandesh were also served to Martinez.
Martinez said, “I feel great. It’s a lovely country. I’m happy to be here. I’m really excited. I promised I would come to India so here I am. It’s a place where I Always wanted to come.”
The 2022 World Cup Golden Gloves winner entered the hotel amid tight security. Martinez has a busy schedule for the next two days. In the afternoon he attended a program called ‘Tahader Katha’. Martinez Biswa will interact with 500 school children at Bangla Mela premises. He will then head to Mohun Bagan, where he will felicitate 10 Bengal goalkeepers, including Bhaskar Ganguly and Hemant Dora. On Wednesday, the last day of his visit, Martinez will visit the Sreebhumi Club in Lake Town to participate in the ‘Paanch a Paanch’ event.
