Assembly Election 2023: Assembly elections are to be held in nine states this year. Of these, the Election Commission will announce the dates of assembly elections in three states of Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura today. The Election Commission will announce the dates by holding a press conference. The Election Commission will announce the dates at 2.30 pm.
It may be mentioned that earlier the Election Commission had reviewed the election preparations in all the three states. The Commission had made a four-day visit to these three election states. In which both commissioners Anoop Chandra Pandey and Arun Goyal were also included along with Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar. During this, he held meetings with the Chief Secretaries, Directors General of Police as well as political parties in all the three states.
The term of the Legislative Assembly ends on March 12 in Nagaland, March 15 in Meghalaya and March 22 in Tripura. The term of the Legislative Assemblies in all the three states is ending in March itself. For the elections in these states, the Election Commission had visited these states and reviewed the preparations.
Election Commission officials had visited Tripura on 11 January. This was followed by visits to Nagaland and then Meghalaya. Actually, elections are to be held in these three states in February. Because the term of the assembly in these three states is ending in March. Before this, the commission has to conduct elections in these states. Regarding this today, the Election Commission will announce the dates by holding a press conference.
Let us inform that this year the assembly elections of 9 states are to be held. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are to be held just a few months after these assembly elections are over. The results of these assembly elections will have an impact on the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year. Therefore, keeping in mind the elections to be held this year, all the political parties had already started their preparations.
