A Delhi court has allowed the ED to take 11-day remand of West Bengal Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal in a cattle smuggling case. Earlier on Wednesday i.e. March 8, the court had sent Anubrata Mandal on ED remand till Friday.ED requested the court to send Anubrata Mandal on remand. On the other hand, Mandal’s lawyer demanded not to send him to custody. He cited Mandal’s ill health. The court ordered the medical examination of Anubrata Mandal under the supervision of the ED. Also, approved to send him on ED remand for 11 days.

According to media reports, Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mandal was produced in the court on March 8. The ED had sought Mandal’s custody for 14 days and said that many important questions have to be asked from Mandal. The court sent Mandal to ED custody for questioning till March 10. During the custody, Mandal avoided answering many questions. Today, after the end of the custody period, Anubrata Mandal was produced again in the court.

Here a petition was filed on behalf of Anubrata Mandal and said that he should be released from this custody. Also, Mandal’s counsel argued that the questioning was conducted despite his absence. Also, told that Mandal’s health deteriorated during the interrogation. The ED had opposed Mandal’s plea. After hearing all the parties, the court approved the interrogation of Anubrata Mandal in the presence of the lawyer. Along with this, ordered the medical examination of Anubrata Mandal. As per the order of the court, Anubrata was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Friday afternoon under the supervision of ED for medical checkup. Please tell that Anuvrat Mandal is considered very close to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The CBI has also arrested Mandal in a corruption-related case.
