Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Mayor Shaili Oberoi visited the Bhalswa landfill site today on Saturday. During this, he said that the work of removing the mountain of garbage is going on faster than the target. So far, 18 lakh tonnes of garbage has been reduced instead of 14. The agency which is working now has to eliminate 30 lakh tonnes of garbage by May next year, but with the speed at which the work is being done, it is expected that instead of 30 lakh tonnes the garbage will be reduced to 45 lakh tonnes.

CM Kejriwal’s statement

CM said that with its removal, 35 acres of land will become free. There is a total of 65 lakh tonnes of garbage here. After a few days, they are also bringing another agency for this work. Work is also going on at a fast pace on other landfill sites in Delhi. I will visit there next week. The Chief Minister further said that when 45 lakh tonnes of garbage will be cleared from this place, then this place can be used for different purposes in many ways.

Meenakshi Lekhi called the contribution of Lieutenant Governor important

Earlier this morning, Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi had also given a statement regarding this. He had said that the Lieutenant Governor has an important contribution in reducing the mountain of garbage in the capital. The central government gave money for garbage removal. He said that work on waste segregation has not been done yet. Lekhi further said that I expect the Delhi government to move forward and work, because all the works done by them are works of fraud.

The garbage of entire Delhi is deposited here.

Let us tell you that in the last 30 years, Bhalswa landfill site has become a big mountain of garbage. This site is spread over about 70 acres. In 2019, the height of this landfill was 65 meters from the ground. During this period, 80 lakh metric tonnes of garbage was found. Since then, 24 lakh metric tonnes of new waste has been dumped at the site and 30.48 lakh metric tonnes of waste has been biomined there. Let us tell you that the garbage of entire Delhi comes here. Now the work of dismantling it is going on rapidly.
