Allahabad University Professor: A case has been registered against an assistant professor of Allahabad University for making objectionable remarks about Lord Ram and Krishna. This action was taken on Sunday evening following a joint complaint by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Hindu Jagran Manch and Bajrang Dal. The complainant said that the professor keeps making derogatory remarks about Hindu gods and goddesses.

The right-wing groups, in their complaint filed at the Colonelganj police station, alleged that Professor Vikram Harijan of the Department of Medieval and Modern History made objectionable remarks about deities in a post on X. According to the police, the FIR was registered on the complaint of VHP district coordinator Shubham. A case was registered against Vikram Harijan under sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295-A (intentional and malicious acts).

What did Professor Vikram Harijan say

Professor Vikram Harijan in his X post said that Lord Ram should be sent to jail under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and alleged that Lord Krishna is guilty of sexual harassment. He said that I have written this within the ambit of the Constitution. Lord Rama killed Shambhuk because Shambhuk belonged to Shudra caste and was teaching youth. Police started investigating the case

Colonelganj SHO Brijesh Singh said that investigation into the matter has been started. He said no arrests have been made, but we have started investigating the matter. A university official said the institute is currently closed and the matter will be looked into once it reopens. In September 2019, Harijan went on leave, citing fear that he might be murdered on the campus.
