Chandrayaan-3: Another feather in ISRO’s crown, part of Chandrayaan returned to Earth from lunar orbit

Chandrayaan-3’s propulsion module returned to Earth’s orbit.

Chandrayaan-3’s propulsion module returned to Earth’s orbit.

Chandrayaan-3: Another feather has been added to the crown of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). ISRO has successfully returned the Propulsion Module (PM) of Chandrayaan-3 to Earth from the lunar orbit. After completing the mission, this part of Chandrayaan returned from the Moon’s orbit to the Earth’s orbit. This is another achievement of ISRO after taking Vikram Lander from one surface of the Moon to another. Now the Earth will be studied through the SHAPE payload installed inside it.

Propulsion module called this way

PM proceeded around the moon. He had made his orbit 150 by 5112 kilometers. Earlier it was making one revolution around the moon in 2.1 hours in a 100 km orbit. Then it started applying in 7.2 hours. After this the scientists examined the fuel present in the PM. After this, on October 13, the second orbit was changed to 1.8 lakh by 3.8 lakh kilometers. This is called the trans-earth injection (TEI) maneuver.

ISRO scientists said that after the lander and rover landed on the moon, Vikram had collected all the data and sent it to ISRO. After this both of them went into sleep mode. The Indian Space Research Organization tried hard to wake him up but Vikram did not wake up. ISRO said in a statement that the objectives of Chandrayaan-3 mission have been completely accomplished. The main purpose of the propulsion module was to move the lander module from Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO) to the final lunar polar orbit and separate the lander. After separation, spectro-polarimetry of the payload also started working.

Got this benefit from this

Giving information, ISRO said that planning and execution should be done to bring a vehicle back from the Moon to the Earth. Also, creating the right software module to get the craft back this way. Changing the orbit around a planet by taking advantage of gravity. At the same time, to protect the PM from hitting the lunar surface. So that garbage does not spread in space.
