Ration Scam: West Bengal minister and Trinamool Congress leader Jyotipriya Malik was arrested early Friday by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with corruption in the alleged ration scam. The arrest came a day after the ED conducted searches at Mallick’s residence in Salt Lake on the outskirts of Kolkata. ED had raided the residence of the minister and his relatives for several hours. Regarding this, BJP has also fiercely targeted TMC and CM Mamata Banerjee.

Minister said – victim of serious conspiracy

After arresting Jyotipriya Malik from his residence, he said that he is the victim of a serious conspiracy. Let us tell you that Malik is currently the Minister of State for Forest Affairs and earlier he had the charge of Food and Civil Supplies Department. The ruling Trinamool Congress, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, did not react to the arrest of its minister.

BJP said attack

On the arrest of West Bengal Minister Jyotipriya Malik in the case of corruption in PDS ration distribution, State BJP President Dr. Sukant Majumdar said that his arrest was inevitable. Also, attacking CM Mamata Banerjee, she said that the Chief Minister sympathizes with thieves.

Ministers arrested earlier this year also

Earlier this year, the ED had arrested former West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide Arpita Mukherjee in connection with the teacher recruitment scam after recovery of huge cash from their residence. TMC’s Burbhum district president Anubrata Mandal was also arrested earlier in the animal smuggling case. The Chief Minister’s nephew and senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee has also been summoned and interrogated by the ED several times in the coal scam case.
