Assembly Election 2023: Election Commission of India may soon announce the dates for the assembly elections of five states (MP,CG,RJ,TN etc.). In view of this, a meeting of future election observers has been called on 6th October. The Election Commission has included 20 IAS officers from Bihar to work as observers in the assembly elections in five states. The bureaucrats who have been called include officers of the rank of Special Secretary, Director, Joint Secretary, Secretary and Principal Secretary. According to media reports, the Election Commission had written to the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar on September 26 asking him to ensure that the 20 IAS officers are relieved in time to hold a meeting at the Constitution Club on October 6.
Action will be taken against absent officers
The letter written by the Election Commission also said that the absence of the officials who have been called will be taken very seriously and disciplinary action can be initiated against them. Let us inform that the Administration Department has issued a notification, in which the concerned IAS officers have been asked to follow the instructions of the Election Commission of India.
Observers submit report to the Election Commission
Officers from different services are deployed as observers in election areas. They stay there during campaigning and elections, monitor things under their purview and submit their reports to the Election Commission.
