Amarnath Yatra 2023: The Amarnath Yatra has started today i.e. from July 1. The first batch of devotees of Baba Barfani left from Baltal Base Camp towards the holy cave. The batch moved forward only after the administration showed the green signal from here. Meanwhile, a second batch of over 4,400 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here on Saturday in a well-secured convoy for the pilgrimage to the 3,888-metre-high Amarnath cave shrine. The pilgrims left the base camp in a convoy of 188 vehicles in the morning. With this, the number of pilgrims leaving for the Amarnath cave shrine from Jammu base camp has gone up to 7,904, officials said.

LG had sent the first batch

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday flagged off the first batch of pilgrims for the annual Amarnath Yatra from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp. The 62-day pilgrimage began on two routes from Kashmir on Saturday. This includes the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter but 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

Hassle free travel assurance

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has assured hassle-free travel to the devotees and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has said that providing health and necessary facilities to all the devotees is the first priority of the administration. The Union Territory government has coordinated with several departments to ensure proper arrangements for food, housing, electricity, water, security and waste management.

62 day trip

The 62-day Yatra which begins on 1st July and ends on 31st August. During this time devotees visit the cave temple of Lord Shiva in the South Kashmir Himalayas, which is situated 13,500 feet above sea level. Over 3,00,000 devotees have registered for the Amarnath Yatra this year as compared to 3,65,000 pilgrims who visited the holy shrine last year.
