ISRO Solar Mission Aditya L1: The work of raising the earth orbit of Aditya L1 (Aditya L-1), ISRO’s first space mission sent to space to study the Sun, for the fourth time was successfully completed early Friday. ISRO itself has shared this information on Twitter. ISRO ground stations at Mauritius, Bengaluru, SDSC-SHAR and Port Blair tracked the Aditya L1 mission during this operation.

Aditya L-1’s orbit changed for the fourth time

Aditya L1’s new orbit is 256 km x 121973 km. It has also been told by ISRO that the next time of orbit change is fixed at 2 pm on September 19. After this, the Trans-Lagrangian Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) will depart from the Earth. Aditya-L1 is the first Indian space-based observatory that will first study the Sun around the Sun-Earth Lagrangian point (L1). It is present at a distance of about 1.5 million km from the Earth.

Earlier, the work of raising the orbit for the first, second and third time was successfully done on 3, 5 and 10 September. The spacecraft’s orbit is being raised regularly during its 16-day journey around the Earth. After leaving the Earth, Aditya L-1 will travel for about 110 days.

ISRO launched Aditya L-1 on 2 September

ISRO’s PSLV-C57 successfully launched the Aditya-L1 spacecraft from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota on September 2. After 63 minutes and 20 seconds that day, Aditya-L1 was successfully placed into a 235×19500 km circular orbit around the Earth. Aditya L-1 mission will also explore the movements of the Sun and its effect on space weather. Aditya-L1 also carries seven payloads developed indigenously, including by IIA in Bengaluru and the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune.
