Keeping this in mind, a relieving news has come out from the World Health Organization. WHO has approved a new malaria vaccine for the prevention of malaria in children. The name of this new vaccine is R21/Matrix-M. Earlier in the year 2021, RTS, S/AS01 vaccine for malaria was released. This new vaccine has been prepared by Oxford University of Britain. Actually, the special thing is that the R21/Matrix-M vaccine has been prepared by the Serum Institute of India. This vaccine was previously approved for use in Ghana, Nigeria and Burkina Faso.

India has another effective vaccine to fight malaria.

According to health experts, the Malaria Policy Advisory Group (MPAG) and the Director General of WHO gave the green signal in the meeting held between 25 to 29 September. During this time, the Director General of WHO approved this vaccine to reduce the risk of malaria in children. He called for spreading widespread awareness among the people regarding this vaccine.

During the meeting, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that as a malaria researcher, I dreamed of when we would have a safe and effective vaccine against malaria. The demand for RTS,S vaccine is far greater than before. But, this second vaccine will help protect children from malaria.
