Canadian biggest heist: You must have seen a webseries on Netflix, the name is- Money Heist. In which the Bank of Spain is robbed. One such robbery took place in Canada, which is one of the most audacious robberies in the history of the country. As of now, the robbery has been solved.
Gold worth more than 20 million Canadian dollars was stolen in this robbery that took place on April 17, 2023, at Canada’s largest Toronto Airport. In this, 9 people including two Indians have been made accused. 5 have also been arrested. Warrant has been issued against 4 others.

Police chief Nishan Duraiappa said 31-year-old Simran Preet Panesar and 54-year-old Parampal Sidhu worked for Air Canada. While the other accused are Durante King-McLean, 25, of Brampton, Prasad Paramalingam, 34, Archit Grover, 36, Arsalan Chaudhary, 42, Amit Jalota, 40, of Oakville, Ammad Chaudhary, 43, of Georgetown and 37-year-old Toronto. Ali Raza is included. Amit Jalota and Parampal Sidhu are of Indian origin. He has been arrested along with Ammad Chaudhary, Ali Raja, Paramalingam.

Gold came from Switzerland
In fact, on April 17 last year, the cargo container was brought to Pearson International Airport from Zurich, Switzerland by an Air Canada flight. Which contained 6,600 bars of .9999% pure gold. Whose weight was 400 kg. There was also foreign currency worth 2.5 million Canadian dollars. The valuable cargo was kept for safe storage within the airport premises before reaching its final destination.
After about three hours, an unknown person came and took away the gold by giving fake documents. He was also captured in CCTV. According to the footage, a truck drove up to the warehouse and loaded a container full of gold bars and currency notes. That same day, when Brink’s employees arrived at the Air Canada cargo depot in Canada to pick up the shipment, the gold was already gone.
Brink says Air Canada employees released the shipment to an unknown person, who ran off with it. The police was informed the next morning i.e. on 18 April. After months of tireless investigation, law enforcement agencies finally solved the robbery.
Gold and arms smuggling also busted
The investigation revealed a complex network of individuals, including people of Indian origin, involved in the crime. The police have also exposed the gold and illegal arms syndicate running on the US and Canada borders. Durante King-McLean, 25, of Brampton has been described as a key link in the trafficking.
Police have seized evidence that suggests the stolen gold was melted and converted into other forms such as jewelery in an attempt to hide its origin.
