South Korea floods: Rain and floods have been wreaking havoc in South Korea for several days. This devastation has so far taken the lives of 31 people and many people are still missing. In the landslide caused by the rain, many people’s houses were buried and completely ruined. The rescue team is working hard to get the people affected by the devastation out of their homes.
It has been raining heavily in South Korea since July 9. According to media reports, about 5,570 people had to evacuate their houses in the last several days due to the rains and power supply in 25,470 houses was disrupted. Also, over 4,200 people have been forced to stay in temporary camps till Saturday night. During this time 20 flights were canceled and the country’s regular train service and some bullet trains have also been suspended and about 200 road routes have been closed.

Due to torrential rains in South Korea, many low-lying areas have been flooded due to the breaking of the dam. Along with this, the bodies of five people have been recovered from a tunnel. At least 31 people died and 10 others went missing, according to reports from the Ministry of the Interior and Security. Due to heavy rains, floods and landslides, about 7,540 people have so far been rescued and taken to a safer place.
According to the Meteorological Agency of South Korea, rain activities will be seen in some parts of the country even today. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday asked Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to mobilize all available resources to deal with the disaster. He is currently visiting Ukraine. In the central regions of South Korea, Gongju city and Cheongyang county have recorded more than 600 mm of rain since 9 July.
