Imran Khan Arrested: Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan was convicted by a district court in Islamabad in the Toshakhana case and sentenced to three years in prison. The court also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Khan. Also, after the sentencing, Imran Khan was arrested by the Punjab Police from his Lahore residence without any delay. The arrest of Imran Khan has been confirmed by his party PTI. Along with this, now former PM Khan is not even eligible to contest elections for 5 years.

A large number of his supporters have gathered outside the residence of former PM Imran Khan and started a ruckus. Supporters have raised slogans against the Shahbaz Sharif government. However, heavy police force has been deployed outside the house and traffic has also been stopped on Zaman Park Road. According to media reports, no gathering or demonstration is allowed. Strictest action will be taken on doing this. As soon as the court sentenced Imran Khan to three years in jail, the crowd started chanting “Imran Khan Chor Hai”.

Imran Khan’s party PTI said in a statement that the court’s decision is absolutely illegal and the law is being mocked. Describing the court’s decision as biased, the party said that this decision will be challenged in the Islamabad High Court. The party said that the country will never tolerate such a conspiracy against the country’s most popular leader.

Who benefits from Imran going to jail?

Imran Khan has been barred from contesting elections for 5 years after being sentenced to three years in jail. In the past, when the present PM Shehbaz Sharif had organized a dinner for his coalition partners, on the same day he had planned to dissolve the Parliament. According to media reports, if the Parliament is dissolved, elections will have to be held within 90 days.
