Russia launched Luna-25 mission.

Luna 25 Mission Launched: Russia has sent its moon mission to the moon after almost 47 years. It was launched from Vostoni Cosmodrome of Amur Oblast around 4.40 am today. It is also known as Luna-Globe mission. It is expected to land on the moon before the Indian spacecraft i.e. Chandrayaan-3. It will also make a soft landing on the moon on 23 August.

Russia’s first mission after 1976

Luna-25 is Russia’s first lunar mission since 1976. The Russian lunar lander is expected to reach the Moon on August 23. However, Chandrayaan-3 is also expected to land a day or two after this. It will take about seven days for the Russian lander to travel around the moon. However, it will take five and a half days to cross the circular orbit outside the Earth. Till now there are only three countries which have been successful in soft landing on the moon. These include the Soviet Union i.e. now Russia, America and China. India and Russia are aiming to be the first to land on the South Pole of the Moon.

On behalf of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos, it was said that it wants to show that Russia is a state capable of delivering payloads to the Moon. According to media reports, sanctions imposed on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine have made it very difficult for it to access Western technology.

Will this mission work?

The Luna 25 mission will spend about a year on the lunar surface. In this, a special technique has been developed which will collect samples of stone and dust by digging on the surface of the moon. So that it can be known whether there is frozen water on the moon or not. When any person tries to settle on the moon, then water can be arranged there for him.
