G20 Summit 2023: The stage is set for the G-20 summit in India. New Delhi is ready to welcome the powerful leaders of the world attending the G-20. The G-20 Summit to be held on September 9-10 will be held at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Center in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Many global leaders including US President Joe Biden, UK PM Rishi Sunak, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron will reach New Delhi today.

The White House has said that Biden will follow the Covid-19 guidelines during his visit to India for the G-20 summit. Those traveling with the US President include US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Deputy Chief of Staff Jane O’Malley Dillon and Director of Oval Office Operations Annie Tommasini. Biden is due to arrive at around 6.55 pm on Friday. Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh will be present at the airport to welcome him.

Rishi Sunak will reach New Delhi at 1.40 pm. He will be received by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Ashwini Kumar Choubey. According to media reports, Sunak and Modi are expected to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the G-20 event and discuss progress on the trade deal the two countries are trying to negotiate. Also, Sunak will urge PM Modi to try to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s plane will land at Palam Air Force Station at 2.15 pm. Chaubey will also welcome him. This will be Kishida’s second visit to India after his first visit in March.

Minister of State Rajiv Chandrashekhar will welcome Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau after his landing at 7 pm. Trudeau is visiting New Delhi at a time when relations between India and Canada are facing some dark clouds over the activities of Khalistani groups in his country.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang will arrive around 7.45 pm and will be received by VK Singh. Chinese President Xi Jinping will not attend the G20 meeting at a time of heightened trade and geopolitical tensions with the United States and India, with which it shares a long and disputed border. Beijing did not give a reason but said Li Qiang would attend.

Rest of the world leaders will arrive on Saturday to participate in the G-20 summit.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be received by Minister of State for External Affairs Darshana Zardosh at 12:30 pm. UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will arrive in the national capital at 8 pm and will be received by Minister of State (Home) Nityanand Rai.Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will arrive at 6.15 pm and will be received by Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
