Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has been on the radar of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) since 2019. NIA had registered the first case against a Khalistani terrorist. He is spreading terror in Punjab and other places in the country through his threats and intimidation tactics. On February 3, 2021, the NIA special court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Also, he was declared a terrorist on November 29 last year.

Earlier, NIA had seized the property of Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in Chandigarh. NIA had taken this action after openly threatening Hindus living in Canada to leave the country.
