In fact, a committee of the Ministry of Petroleum suggested to the Central Government that diesel vehicles should be banned in India by 2027. Instead, electric and gas-powered vehicles should be used.
According to media reports, The pollution level is increasing all over the country. In view of this, a committee of the Petroleum Ministry suggested to the government that electric and gas-powered vehicles should be encouraged in cities which have a population of more than one million. With this we can control pollution. The committee said that the central government should ban diesel vehicles everywhere by 2027.
Explain that the Ministry of Petroleum shared a report on its official website saying that India is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. This report is of hundreds of pages, in which the complete plan of energy transition of India has been told.
All buses to be electric by 2030
Along with this, the ministry further said in its post that India is moving fast to achieve the net zero goal of 2070, but there is a need to make some special preparations to meet this goal. The ministry has demanded that no diesel buses should be added to city transportation from 2024 onwards. At the same time, by 2030, there should not be a single city bus which does not run on electric.
The ministry suggested that taxi vehicles and passenger cars should be 50 per cent petrol and 50 per cent electric. According to the report, by 2030, the sale of electric vehicles is going to cross the figure of 10 million units per year. In such a situation, there is a need to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country.
