IT Minister Chandrasekhar said, “This is given 3 months trial of #BGMI after complying with issues of server location & data security etc. We will keep a close watch on user loss, addiction etc other issues in next 3 months.” After this the decision will be taken.

What will be the new restrictions

Players under the age of 18 must register their parent or guardian before playing the game. Also, these users will be able to log in to the game using OTP only. Krafton is also limiting the playing time of BGMI players from 18 to three hours per day. In addition, a daily spending limit of Rs 7,000 will be implemented to prevent players from spending too much on the game. Crafton says these new limits will help curb game addiction.

When did BGMI come to India

BGMI was previously available in India as PUBG. The Indian government banned PUBG in September 2020, when it blocked several apps linked to Chinese companies, including PUBG Mobile, which was run by Tencent Games in India. Then the South Korean company Krafton which owns PUBG Studios renamed the game and launched it as Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). The game was again suspended in India in July 2022 after the Ministry of Home Affairs asked the Ministry of IT to do so. Some reports said that the ban occurred because the game servers were communicating with Chinese servers.
