UGC New Planning For Master Degree 2024: From the next academic session i.e. next year 2024, the post graduation degree can be of one year duration. The UGC contract will be sent to states and universities this week. From the year 2024, students will be given the option to join a one-year or two-year master’s degree program. Besides this, students will also get the facility that they can do post graduation in subjects other than the ones in which they have taken undergraduate degree.

UGC New Planning For Master Degree 2024: NEP based changes

University Grants Commission Chairman Professor M Jagadish Kumar told the media that this change is based on the National Education Policy i.e. NEP 2020. The council meeting in this regard was held on 3 November 2023. In this meeting, the syllabus and credit work for the PG course has been approved. Till now, only two-year master’s degree was available in India, but after this change is approved, master’s degree can be taken in one year.

Permission to change these subjects in UGC New Planning For Master Degree

According to this new syllabus, relaxation will be given in multidisciplinary studies i.e. it will not be necessary to do PG from the same subject or stream in which you have done UG. After passing CUET PG exam, students can do PG in other subjects also. If you have two subjects in UG, one is main and the other is side subject, then you will be able to do PG course through side subject also. There will also be an option to change the stream.

According to the new syllabus and credit framework, students doing four-year UG course will be given the option to do one-year master’s degree programme. Whereas students doing three year UG course will have to do two year master’s degree.
