UGC Fellowships 2023: University Grants Commission i.e. UGC has made changes in the stipend received under various fellowship schemes. In this change, the Commission has now decided to give increased money to the candidates. This decision was taken by the Commission in its 572nd meeting on September 20, 2023, in which the Commission accepted the proposal to revise the Fellowship Scheme. Now this changed fellowship stipend will be implemented from January 1, 2024.
Decision taken for UGC Fellowships
In the notification issued by UGC, it has been decided that the stipend of fellowship has been increased. This decision was taken through the 572nd meeting held for UGC Fellowship Schemes. UGC has said that the benefit of this increased stipend will be given only to the existing students.
UGC Fellowships 2023: How much amount increased
The stipend for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will be increased from Rs 31 thousand to Rs 37 thousand, the duration of which is up to 2 years. Apart from this, the fellowship stipend of Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) which was earlier Rs 35 thousand, will now be reduced to Rs 42 thousand.
The stipend for single girl child i.e. Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship was earlier given by JRF at Rs 31 thousand. Now it will be reduced to Rs 37 thousand. Its duration is also for 2 years. At the same time, the stipend of SRF, which was earlier given at Rs 35 thousand, will be increased to Rs 42 thousand per month.
Whereas, if we talk about the stipend of DS Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship, then the stipend of Higher Post Doctoral Scholarship for the entire tenure, which was earlier Rs 54 thousand, has been increased to Rs 67 thousand.
