Teachers furious over spending Rs 5 lakh for ‘magic show’ in DU.

Delhi University: Loud protests have started to organize a magic show in the centenary celebrations of Delhi University. In fact, the teachers have termed the five lakh rupees being spent in this program as frivolous. At the same time, a poster has been issued by Delhi University, in which it has been told that this magic show is being organized on May 3, 2023. In this show, magician Samrat Shankar will present the program in the multi-purpose sports complex of DU.

Registration has also been kept for admission to this program organized by Delhi University. Along with this, a university official said that the show is being organized to develop scientific thinking among the students. However, some teachers have defended it.

spending money in public extravagance

Opposing this program, a section of teachers has alleged that this magic show is a wastage of money in public. Along with this, it was told that due to lack of funds, many research, development grants and innovation projects had to be closed. It should not be forgotten that DU is not a Harvard University. Also said that when the official committee itself has accepted the lack of laboratory, infrastructure development and research, it is absolutely wrong to spend publicly on magic shows.

On the other hand, DU has defended the move saying that Rs 5 lakh is not a big amount. Usually singers charge 40 to 60 lakh rupees for a program, while no one has to pay the amount on this magic show. However, there is a condition of registration for admission.
