In India too, the frequency of earthquakes is increasing continuously. Simultaneously, mild tremors were felt in some areas after a 2.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. According to the local people, the first tremor was felt at 12:40 in the night, the second at 12:45 and the third at 01:01 and 4 after 4 in the morning.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Siror forest under Bhatwadi tehsil. After the arrival of this earthquake, people came out of their homes. The tremors of three earthquakes one after the other created an atmosphere of fear among the people. People stayed out of their homes for a long time. There was no loss of life or property due to the earthquake. The incident happened two days after a mild earthquake of magnitude 2.4 hit Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district at around 10.31 am on Thursday.

Increasing pressure on the Himalayas

A few days ago a leading meteorologist and geologist warned that the Indian tectonic plates are moving about 5 cm every year, increasing the pressure on the Himalayas. Along with this, the possibility of major seismic events is increasing in the coming days. The Earth’s surface is comprised of various plates, which are in constant motion. The Indian plate is moving about 5 cm every year, due to which the possibility of earthquakes is also increasing.
