The Uttarakhand government has issued a new compensation policy for the victims of the Joshimath crisis. Under this policy, now apart from Joshimath, the people of those areas will also get relief, whose houses have been destroyed in such calamities.

The Dhami government has implemented a new compensation policy for the victims of Joshimath on February 23, 2023. Under this policy, the government will give compensation at the rate of 31 thousand to 36 thousand per square meter. Along with this, the government has fixed the compensation of commercial buildings in five sections. The Dhami government will propose a proposal regarding this matter in its next cabinet meeting.

At the same time, apart from Joshimath in Uttarakhand, landslides and cracks in houses have also been observed in Pangarh village of Chamoli district. Because of this, people here are being forced to leave their homes.

Like Joshimath, more than 40 families have been forced to leave their homes in Pangarh village near Tharali on the Karnaprayag-Almora National Highway in Uttarakhand. Here people have become homeless and are being forced to live like refugees. The problem of landslide here started with the Kedarnath disaster in the year 2013, but after October 2021, the situation here kept getting worse.

Joshimath’s SDM Kumkum Joshi said that these cracks had also appeared last year and we had completed the repair work. Potholes of 4 meters deep were visible at many places, which have been filled. At present, the survey is being done continuously to check the cracks.
