After the Morbi bridge accident in Gujarat and the Narkota bridge accident in Uttarakhand, the Government of Uttarakhand decided to get the bridges audited. In the safety audit conducted in five areas of the state on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, 36 bridges of Uttarakhand have been declared unsafe for traffic. Officials said that the Public Works Department (PWD) has submitted the safety audit report of 2618 bridges out of 3262 in the state to the government. Due to heavy rains on Morbi and Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway in Gujarat, an under-construction bridge collapsed in Narkota area. 6 laborers were injured in this accident.

For information, let us inform that at the end of October, on 30th, a cable bridge had collapsed in Morbi, Gujarat. 135 people died in this accident. While more than 100 people were injured. The rescue teams worked in coordination with the local administration and other agencies. This bridge was said to be 137 years old. Apart from this, an under-construction bridge on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Narkota area also collapsed due to heavy rains in July this year. After which the Uttarakhand government had ordered an inquiry into such bridges.
