Ghaziabad Name Change: After Allahabad and Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad can also be renamed. Some Hindu organizations of UP are continuously raising demands for this. A campaign is also being run on a large scale. This demand of the organizations is now getting the support of the ruling party BJP leaders also. This issue was discussed for the first time in the meeting of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday.

BJP councilor presented a proposal in this regard in the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation meeting on Tuesday. In this proposal, he has suggested two names in Ghaziabad, ‘Gajnagar’ and ‘Haranandi Nagar’. Mayor Sunita Dayal also said that for some time, requests have been continuously being received regarding changing the name of Ghaziabad.
They also got a new name
Yogi government of UP has earlier changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj and Faizabad to Ayodhya. Railway administration has changed the name of Mughalsara station of UP to Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Junction. Mahant Narayan Giri, the priest of Dudheshwarnath temple, had given a memorandum to Chief Minister Yogi last year requesting to change the name. On this, the CM had assured to consider it seriously.
History of Ghaziabad
The history of Ghaziabad, situated on the banks of Hindon River, is linked to Hastinapur. Its name is also related to Gaja i.e. elephants. In 1739, Nadir Shah invaded and disrupted this area. Hence, Ghazi-ud-din had established Ghaziuddinnagar in 1740, but during the British rule, the British faced problem in pronouncing this name. Therefore, its name was changed to Ghaziabad in 1864.
