Not singing Vande Mataram cost AIMIM councillors, scuffle with BJP workers, watch video

The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members in the UP Municipal Elections (Nagar Nikay Chunav) was organized in the Auditorium of Netaji Subhash Chand Bose of Chaudhary Charan Singh University located in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Councilors of all parties reached this function. The swearing-in ceremony began with Vande Matram. This was fiercely opposed by the members of AIMIM. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers only asked him to stand up. After this the matter caught fire and reached to scuffle and fight. The scuffle continued in front of DM and SP as well. Additional police force and RAF team were called to pacify it.

Today the program of oath taking ceremony was organized. Meerut Commissioner J Selva Kumari had arrived to administer the oath to the newly elected members. Along with this, complete arrangements for tight security arrangements were made. During this, the newly elected members of AIMIM said that all of them will sing the national anthem, raise slogans of Hindustan Zindabad but will not sing Vande Mataram. Also, he said that this program is not of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After this there was a fierce fight between the two sides.

According to media reports, all the 11 councilors of AIMIM have lodged First Information Report (FIR) against BJP workers in the medical station. In this, it was said that there was a thrashing by BJP workers.

BJP leader Laxmikant Vajpayee, who was present on the occasion, said that if he had any objection to Vande Mataram, he should have kept quiet. But the councilors of AIMIM had made unnecessary comments by not doing so. It was only after this that the situation reached such a point that the matter reached to a fight.
