How did Ghaziabad get its name?

Let us tell you that Ghaziabad was named after Ghaziuddin, the Wazir of Mughal rule, about 284 years ago. In 1740, Ghaziuddin, the Wazir of Mughal rule, built a city named Ghaziuddin Nagar, later the name was shortened to Ghaziabad. On 14 November 1976, then Chief Minister ND Tiwari separated Ghaziabad from Meerut and declared it a new district, but the name did not change. However, now the proposal to change the name of this district has received the approval of the House in the Board meeting of the Municipal Corporation.

Ghaziabad was called Gajaprastha

According to media reports, Mahant Narayan Giri, the priest of Dudheshwarnath temple, said that this area used to be a dense forest inhabited by elephants, which is called ‘Gaj’ in Hindi. Giri further said that hence Ghaziabad was called Gajaprastha. He said that Ghaziuddin, a close associate of Mughal emperor Akbar, had changed the name to Ghaziabad. It is noteworthy that the government of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi has already changed the names of many districts. Allahabad will be renamed as Prayagraj, Faizabad will be renamed as Ayodhya, now there is talk of changing the name of Ghaziabad.
