A hearing was held in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday on the matter of interview of Lawrence Bishnoi, accused of murdering Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala, from jail. During this, the Punjab government presented its side and said that on March 17, an inquiry committee headed by the ADGP has been constituted. This committee is conducting its investigation in depth and will soon submit its report to the government. After the information given by the Punjab government, the public interest litigation demanding investigation into the incident was disposed of on Friday.
Public interest litigation was filed in the High Court
The case of Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview from jail reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In this petition, petitioner Akash Manocha, through advocate Gaurav, had argued that a gangster giving interviews from inside the prison had sabotaged and failed the entire prison system. Along with this, all the provisions of the jail manual were broken.
The petitioner argued that the High Court should intervene in the matter to fix the responsibility of the officials concerned and order an impartial probe into the entire incident by the National Investigation Agency.
After the PIL came up for hearing before a division bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Palli, the petitioner said that he would now approach the Punjab Police Committee with his complaint. To this, the Additional Advocate General of Punjab said that if the petitioner does so, the authorities will look into the matter and take a decision on it as per law. Hearing this, the Bench disposed of the matter.
Gave interview from jail
A few days ago a TV channel aired an interview of Lawrence Bishnoi, in which he said that he was not involved in the murder of singer Sidhu Musewala. Along with this, he was continuously answering many questions related to his gang. During this interview, Lawrence also threatened to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan. After this, questions are constantly being raised on the security system.
