In view of this, Sarwan Singh Pandher, secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, said that this time the displeasure of the farmers in Punjab is with the state government and not with the central government. Along with this, he told that farmers are forced to stop the rail movement.

Pandher pointed out that the government had entered into an agreement with the farmers that their land would not be encroached upon until compensation was paid to them. He said that the government had sought time from all the farmers till the month of August, but after the victory in the by-elections in Jalandhar, the government is going back on its promises with the farmers.
