Workshop on ‘Breast Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery’ at AIIMS Bhopal;  Orientation held for newly joined faculty

On Saturday, the Department of General Surgery of AIIMS Bhopal organized a workshop on ‘Breast Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery’. The CME and workshop has been organized under the aegis of Asian Society of Mastology, (ASOMA), American College of Surgeons and ICMR in collaboration with the Department of Anatomy and Plastic Surgery. Guest of the workshop, Professor Dr. Chintamani (New Delhi) demonstrated detailed oncoplastic surgical techniques for breast cancer through video presentation.

Dr Vidya R from NHS Birmingham UK moderated the panel discussion in which general surgeons, onco-surgeons, plastic surgeons, radiologists and radiation oncologists discussed the management of breast cancer. This program was organized by Dr. Swagata Brahmachari and Dr. Shyamlal.

More than 150 surgeons of national repute from AIIMS New Delhi, KGMU Lucknow, Indore, Jabalpur participated in the program. This includes general surgeon, oncosurgeon, plastic surgeon, radiation oncologist and surgical trainee.

Executive Director Professor Dr. Ajay Singh addressed the workshop. He encouraged CME. He said that AIIMS Bhopal is planning to set up a cadaveric lab in the anatomy department for more such educational activities for surgeons.

Dr. Sunil Malik, Chairman, AIIMS Bhopal, congratulated the organizing committee for organizing such a multidisciplinary workshop for breast cancer. He requested to organize more such programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Similarly, there will be a Hands on Cadaveric Workshop on January 28, 2024, in which there will be 40 participants who will learn oncoplastic techniques on cadaver. This will be the first workshop of its kind in Madhya Pradesh.

Organization of orientation program for newly joined faculty

An orientation program was organized on Saturday for the faculty members appointed during the last one year at AIIMS Bhopal.

On this occasion, Executive Director Professor Dr. Ajay Singh said that all the newly appointed faculty have expertise in their respective fields. They should serve the patients by providing better services at AIIMS Bhopal and improve their future.

Professor Ajay Singh said- The purpose of this orientation program is to make you all aware of the methods and system here. Decide your mission along with the mission of the institute and try to achieve it with a spirit of service. Communicate better with each other. Keep yourself away from unethical activities and keep working hard for research work. May you become a role model for your students in the times to come.

Earlier, Professor Dr. Rajneesh Joshi, Dean (Academics) welcomed the presence. Colonel Dr. Ajit Kumar, Deputy Director (Administration) discussed the ways in which a person can remain happy. During this, the participants were also made aware of various administrative aspects. The program was conducted by Dr. Raghavendra Vidua.
