Bhopal. The case of the death of Salman, the driver of Congress MLA Vikram Singh Natiraja in Rajnagar assembly constituency of Chhatarpur district, has taken a political color. In this case, the police had already registered a case of murder and attempt to murder against 21 people including BJP candidate Arvind Pataria. Now, on the demand of BJP, a case of attempt to murder under section 307 has been registered against Natiraja Singh and a dozen people.
The gamble backfired for Natiraja
It was the night before voting. As soon as the voting was over, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh reached Rajnagar and staged a protest demanding the arrest of BJP candidate Arvind Pataria and other accused. After assurance from Chhatarpur Superintendent of Police, Digvijay ended his overnight strike but this move backfired for Natiraja. The very next day, the entire BJP including State BJP President VD Sharma became active.
Demand for action against the culprits
By complaining to the Director General of Police and the Election Commission, the action taken against Arvind Patria was termed as biased. BJP said that Natiraja is responsible for Salman’s death. The result was that the police registered a case of attempt to murder against Natiraja and 12 other Congress supporters. On Monday, VD Sharma submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police and the Collector along with all the BJP leaders in Chhatarpur and demanded action against the culprits.
