Overhauling of 6299 coaches/wagons done so far in North Zone including Bhopal Division

Bhopal. Maximum POH (periodic over hauling) outturn is being done by routine over hauling of coaches and wagons in all the three divisions of the zone including Bhopal division. Maintenance Depots of SCR have done well in the current financial year by maintaining maximum number of coaches/wagons so far. A total of 6299 coaches/wagons were periodically overhauled and outturned in both CRWS/Bhopal and WRS/Kota workshops from April 2022 to January 2023 by the officers and staff of the workshop under the guidance of Sudhir Kumar Gupta, General Manager, ECR and under the leadership of Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer. In which Carriage Reconstruction Factory, Bhopal maintained 1013 coaches and Kota Workshop repaired and outturned 5286 wagons. Bhopal Railway Division spokesperson Subedar Singh said that in the month of January, periodic overhauling outturn of total 655 coaches/wagons was done in both CRWS/Bhopal and WRS/Kota workshops. In which Carriage Reconstruction Factory, Bhopal maintained 105 coaches and Kota workshop repaired and outturned 550 wagons. It may be mentioned that CRWS does POH of Bhopal coaches and WRS does POH of Kota wagons. Where as POH (Periodic Over hauling) of wagons is done once in 04/06 years, and POH of coaches is done once in 12 to 18 months.

Work done by coaches during overhauling

– Body and under gear of coaches and wagons are repaired to provide comfortable traveling experience to passengers and to ensure safety in operation.

All parts of trolleys, bogies under coaches and wagons are repaired, which is very important from the point of view of safety.

– All parts of air brake system and buffers on both sides of wagons and coaches are overhauled for enhanced safety and jerk free riding experience.

– Wheels and axles are repaired and maintained, which adds to the safety.
