Now door-to-door garbage collection will be done by CNG vehicles

BhopalBhopal Municipal Corporation is purchasing 125 CNG-powered Tata Magic garbage collection vehicles for garbage collection, which will reduce carbon emissions from smoke by four times. Along with this, the Municipal Corporation will save up to Rs 55 lakh every month. 25 vehicles have reached the capital, while the remaining vehicles will also reach by the end of this month. According to the municipal officials, at present, a campaign is going on to reduce the expenses on the guidelines of the commissioner, under which wind and solar energy plants are being set up. In this sequence, vehicles are now being converted from diesel to CNG. A CNG plant is also being prepared by the Municipal Corporation near Adampur Khanti, so that CNG will not have to be bought from outside. The vehicles of all the zone offices have already been converted to CNG, apart from the garbage collection vehicles. Due to this, a total saving of 55 lakhs is estimated every month.

Agreement with Unido for garbage collection
After the municipal corporation’s agreement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the corporation has received money for 250 such garbage vehicles. With these 125 garbage vehicles, the corporation will save Rs 55 lakh a month, as well as the carbon emissions of the smoke will also be reduced by four times. Till now the corporation spends 10 liters of diesel daily on every garbage vehicle. These vehicles get an average of 14.15, which will increase to 22.24 with CNG. For vehicles, the corporation buys diesel at around Rs 92 a litre, while the price of CNG is up to Rs 10 less.

Will also shift 435 garbage vehicles to CNG
At present, the work of collecting garbage in Bhopal is being done by 435 magic vehicles. In the corporation’s workshop, 22 cars of zone in-charges have been converted into CNG. All of them had a petrol engine. Corporation Commissioner VS Chowdhary Kolsani said that Bhopal Municipal Corporation has signed an agreement with UNIDO. This agreement has been made to reduce the carbon spread in the environment. Under this, the corporation has placed a work order for CNG magic vehicle. The corporation has also sent a proposal for 150 CNG magic vehicles. For this, budget will be allotted from UNIDO.

25 percent vehicles will convert every year
At present Bhopal Municipal Corporation has 1450 vehicles of different types. Corporation officials say that every year a plan has been prepared to convert 25 percent of these vehicles into CNG. Due to this, the consumption on diesel-petrol will be greatly reduced.
