Bhopal. A 30 per cent reduction in the consumption of English liquor has been recorded due to the closure of the premises attached to liquor shops from April 1. There has also been a decline in the consumption of beer. In April this year, 82 thousand 875 cases of liquor have been sold. Gin includes whiskey, rum, vodka, and gin. A case contains 9 liters of liquor. Last year, 1 lakh 21 thousand 990 cases of liquor were sold in Spirit. That is, there has been less sale of 39 thousand 115 cases of liquor in a single month. In this way, there is a decrease in the consumption of beer. In April last year, 1 lakh 48 thousand 410 cases of beer were consumed. In April this year, 1 lakh 33 thousand 186 boxes have been sold. A case contains 7 liters of beer.

Reduced consumption due to closure of premises

Sajendra Mori, Excise Controller said that while the sale of liquor and beer has come down due to the closure of the premises, cases of illegal smuggling are also on the rise. The Excise Department is taking continuous action in coordination with the local police, arresting smugglers and recovering illicit liquor.
