A special court on Wednesday summoned the health report of Pragya Singh Thakur from the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The court said that Pragya Thakur’s health condition should be investigated. She has been absent from many hearings citing health reasons. This is affecting the court proceedings.

On September 29, 2008, an explosive device allegedly planted on a motorcycle exploded near a mosque in Malegaon, about 200 km from Mumbai. Six people died in this. While more than 100 were injured. The motorcycle was in the name of Pragya Thakur.

What is Pragya’s illness?
Some certificates were also attached with the exemption application. In which it has been said that the accused is suffering from cervical spondylitis and migraine and hence his doctor has advised him to take complete rest. Which was opposed by NIA.

Absent since March 22
After hearing the arguments, the court granted liberty to the accused for a day. Special Judge AK Lahoti said that all the accused were provided dates in advance to overcome the difficulty faced by residents of other states in obtaining tickets at the last minute.

The accused (Thakur) has been absent for a long time except on 22 March 2024. On March 22, the accused appeared in the court and considering her physical and mental condition, she was allowed to leave the court. Subsequently, she did not return to the court to record her statement before leaving for Bhopal. His absence is hampering the court proceedings.
