Major railway accident averted: Goods train left its track and reached another, rail traffic halted for hours

Bhopal. A goods train suddenly reached another track near Bagratwa railway station of Jabalpur-Itarsi section. After this incident, rail traffic came to a standstill in Jabalpur division. Due to which there was a stir in the railway. A dozen trains including Jan Shatabdi Express, Shridham Express of up and down line between Itarsi to Jabalpur were stopped at different stations. As soon as the information was received, all the railway officials reached Bagra Tawa from Pipariya, Itarsi and started the improvement work. Rail traffic resumed after about 4 hours. So on the other hand, an inquiry has been ordered by the Bhopal Railway Board regarding this matter.

According to the information, a train full of coal was coming from Jabalpur towards Itarsi. At around 5.20 pm, the train had a signal of up line at Bagra Tawa railway station. From Up Lapin, the train reached the downline (track going from Itarsi to Jabalpur). The goods train had arrived on the track, if a train was coming in front of it, a major accident could not be ruled out. How and by which department’s mistake such a big negligence happened, it will be revealed only after the investigation.

These trains were affected

More than a dozen trains have been stopped at different places due to goods train coming on the wrong track. Bhopal-Durg Amarkantak and Sanket Express had to be stopped at Itarsi Junction itself. Barauni Special, Raxaul Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Katni Bhusaval, Varanasi Super Tapti Ganga and Kashi Express, Shridham, Intercity Express, Janta Express have been stopped.
