Bhopal. Today is the fourth day of the budget session of the 16th Assembly of Madhya Pradesh. After two days’ leave, the assembly proceedings will begin again on Monday at 11 am. The opposition in the House will again raise many issues regarding development. The opposition may create ruckus over many issues including the beating of tribals in Betul, judicial inquiry into the Harda blast case and IT notice to Congress leaders. CM Mohan Yadav’s government will present the interim budget (Vote on Account) for the period from April to July 2024. Finance Minister Jagdish Deora will present the budget. This budget for the first three months of this financial year (2024-25) will be of Rs one lakh crore, in which many provisions can be made keeping infrastructure, industrial, women, farmers, tribals and youth at the center.

Main budget will be presented in July
In the interim budget to be presented in the Assembly, provision of funds can be made for strengthening the road network, speeding up the construction of expressways, development of industrial centers and giving grants as per the revised policy for encouraging startups. However, the government will not make any new announcements in the interim budget. The main budget will be presented in July after the Lok Sabha elections. Jagdish Deora will have a speech on Monday, in which he will give details of the financial situation of the state. Mentioning the successes achieved so far, he will tell the priorities of the government.

  • Employees in the state get dearness allowance at the rate of 42%. The Center is giving 46 percent. There is a preparation to increase it to 56 percent in the interim budget.
  • Provision of funds is being made in the budget for an average 3% increase in the salaries of employees and 8% increase in contractual employees (remuneration).
  • There is an expectation of an increase of 5-5% for wages and office expenses (petrol-diesel and other expenses) and 10% for security, transportation and cleaning.
  • Seven expressways are being built in the state for infrastructure development, a contribution will be kept for this.
  • According to the amount of Rs 1250 per month given to Ladli Brahmin, four months’ allocation will be given to the Women and Child Development Department.
  • To provide interest-free loans to farmers, the Cooperative Department will get funds under the Interest Subsidy Scheme.
  • Funds will be earmarked for scholarship for Scheduled Caste-Tribe, Other Backward Class students and meritorious student scheme.
  • Funds will be allocated for the establishment of Ayurvedic College and increase in the number of Janani Express vehicles.
  • Funds will be allocated to departments for Simhastha 2028, Chief Minister Teerth Darshan, Chief Minister Mass Marriage and other schemes.
  • The state government’s share will be provided for the Ken Betwa Link Project. The Government of India has made a provision of three and a half thousand crore rupees in the interim budget for this scheme.
  • A symbolic provision can also be made for the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project.
  • Under the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, the Mohan Yadav government is making provision of funds in the interim budget to provide housing to the tribals.
