Bhopal. Carcasses of dogs and pigs are being dumped in the waterlogged area of Kaliasot Dam. Several days old carcasses of more than 10 pigs and dogs are lying inside the waterlogged area of Kaliyasot Dam adjacent to the road near Bhadbhada Road. Environmental activist Rashid Noor Khan has complained about the matter to the regional officer of the MP Pollution Control Board and the municipal commissioner. Rashid has alleged that bodies of dead animals are being dumped inside the FTL by the employees of the Municipal Corporation itself. Apart from this, many days old remains of many animals are also lying in this area. Carcasses of many animals have been thrown inside the FTL by keeping them in sacks.

Infection can spread in alligators and crocodiles

Kaliyasot Dam is home to schedule-5 wildlife and a large number of crocodiles and alligators. In this case, eating dead bodies by these animals can spread serious infection to them. Apart from this, the water of Kaliasot is also getting polluted due to this. Apart from this, a large amount of garbage is also being dumped inside the waterlogged area. Due to which the biodiversity here has also been threatened. According to Rashid, bodies of dead animals are being dumped by vehicles of the Municipal Corporation, while according to the rules, the dead bodies should be disposed of in a scientific manner in Adampur Cantonment. Due to the rotting dead bodies, foul smell has spread in the whole area.

Violation of these rules

The Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Rules 2016, Water Act 1974 are being openly violated by the Municipal Corporation employees by putting the bodies of dead animals in the waterlogged area of the drinking water source.

they say

The dumping of carcasses of dead animals in the open and in the waterlogged area of the drinking water source is an offense punishable under various sections of the Environment. In such a situation, strict action should be taken against the culprits under the section of Environment Protection Act 1986.
