Bhopal – Compared to the population of the state’s economic capital, the capital’s population is less than 15 lakhs, but Bhopal is at number-1 in crime. Among the four big cities of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal has registered the maximum number of fraud cases in crime statistics. On the other hand, maximum number of rape cases have been registered in Gwalior and Indore.
Experts say that crimes are more in big cities but it is not so. The population of Bhopal is 25 lakhs. The population of Indore is more than 40 lakhs. According to statistics, 2,761 cases of theft have been registered in Indore, while 1446 cases of theft have been reported in Bhopal. Similarly, in the cases of murder, rape, dacoity, planning of robbery, Indore is on top. At the same time, 465 cases of dowry harassment have been registered in Chambal. Similarly, FIRs have been registered in 297 cases in Bhopal, 380 in Indore and 165 in Jabalpur. That is, 1307 cases of dowry harassment have been registered in four big cities within a year. Apart from serious crimes, more than 34 thousand cases have been registered under other sections. Police has released these figures on the basis of 22 crimes. In which 18,329 cases have been registered in Bhopal, 13,406 in Indore, 8,707 in Jabalpur and 8,920 in Gwalior. Altogether, 49 thousand 362 cases were registered by the police in big cities during the year. Not only this, more than 15 thousand cases have been registered under the Gambling and Excise Act.
