Bhopal: After a complex 9-hour surgery at AIIMS, a half-foot tumor in the lower part of the patient’s food pipe has been removed. Due to its large size, it was stuck to 7 organs including lungs, aorta and liver. Due to which the 34-year-old woman was repeatedly vomiting blood along with severe pain. When she went to the OPD of the cancer department, seeing her condition, the doctors asked her to undergo immediate examination. In which the problem could be confirmed. The woman is healthy after successful surgery and has been discharged from the hospital.
This is how the disease was identified
First of all, endoscopy of the patient’s food pipe and stomach was done. In which tumor was found. A biopsy was done to check whether it was a cancerous tumor or something else. In which it was revealed that it was leiomyoma of the alimentary canal. After this, CT scan of chest and stomach was done. In which it was seen that the tumor was stuck from the lower part of the alimentary canal to the lungs, liver, aorta, diaphragm, spleen and stomach.
Opened the body from two places
The woman’s operation lasted 9 hours. During this, the right side of the chest was opened first. From here the tumor was separated from the organs including the lungs. After this, the stomach was opened and other organs including the liver were separated. After this the tumor was taken out through the stomach itself. Finally, a new alimentary canal was constructed from the normal part of the stomach and connected to the food pipe in the throat.

Dr. Ankit Jain, Dr. Richa, Dr. Sonveer and Dr. Nutan from the Cancer Surgery Department and Dr. Anuj Jain, Dr. Seema and Dr. Yamini from the Anesthesia Department. AIIMS Director Dr. Ajay Singh has praised the entire team that performed this surgery. According to the information, this lump was a type of benign and benign tumor. Therefore Dr. Jain decided to operate it. Which was its only cure.
