JK: Encounter with terrorists in Rajouri, 5 soldiers martyred, army operation continues

Rajouri Encounter: Five army personnel were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Friday. A joint operation was launched by the Indian Army at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday morning on concrete information about the presence of terrorists in the Kandi forest of Rajouri sector. An Indian Army statement said that the search party of the army started an encounter with the terrorists.

During this the terrorists carried out a blast. In which two army soldiers were martyred and three soldiers were seriously injured, but later three soldiers died during treatment. A group of terrorists is trapped in the area. There is a possibility of casualties in the group of terrorists. According to the information received from the Northern Command of the Indian Army, the terrorists have also suffered heavy losses in the encounter. Additional security force has been sent to carry out the operation. The operation is still going on. Internet services have been suspended in the entire district.

There were encounters in Baramulla and Kupwara as well.

This is the third such incident in Jammu and Kashmir in the last three days. Two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Baramulla district on Thursday. Police said incriminating material, arms and ammunition including an AK 47 rifle and a pistol were recovered. The two terrorists killed were local and belonged to banned terrorist organization Lashkar. Both were local terrorists belonging to banned terrorist organization Lashkar, police said in a statement. They were identified as Shakir Majid Nazar and Hanan Ahmad Seh of Shopian district. Both had joined militancy in March 2023. Further investigation is on. Earlier on Wednesday, two terrorists were killed after the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid near Machil sector in Kupwara.
