Chandigarh. The Haryana School Education (Amendment) Bill, 2023, a bill, was passed in the Budget Session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly. This law was passed amending the Haryana School Education Act 1995. In accordance with the provisions of the Haryana Voluntary State Education Service Rules 2017, most of the employees who worked in the sanctioned positions of the supported schools in 2017-18 were hired in state schools. In such subsidized schools there are only a few employees left who have not given their consent to attend state schools.

In accordance with the provisions of the law, the department provides assistance equal to 75 percent of these employees’ salaries. These schools also have staff working in unauthorized, unsupported positions and they demand equal pay for equal work from that department. Many such cases are pending before the courts, and if these cases succeed in court, they can become a financial drain on the treasury. The provision for supported schools was made in the 1995 Act because the state was scarce according to the requirements of state schools and the provision of education for the resident children is the state’s primary responsibility. As of now, all geographic locations in the country are covered by government schools as per the requirements of various government regulations. So there is no need for subsidized schools in the state.
